Why you should consider doing a first look

I am here to give you the piece of mind knowing that I am passionate about wedding photography and that I will do my absolute best to give you the most authentic, artistic and creative wedding photography

It’s not often that I do an engagement session in the middle of Winter unless is for those clients who love snow and winter sports. When Bailey asked me to do her engagement session in NYC in the middle of February I must confess I was a bit nervous. I was unsure if she knew how cold NY was in the winter. Bailey and her fiancé Alex live in Georgia and were coming to NYC for a few of days for a Superbowl party.  I followed the forecast daily and checked possible indoor locations for the engagement session, but during one of our conversations Bailey mentioned that her grandfather used to collect carousels and her parents took their wedding photos on the carousel her family owned in Maine. I loved their story! It’s amazing to shoot engagement sessions in places that are genuinely meaningful to my couples. With that in mind, I suggested doing the shoot in Dumbo, Brooklyn. The combination of   Jane’s Carousel (the most beautiful carousel in NY) and Dumbo’s cobblestone streets were the perfect backdrop for the shoot. We decided to layer up,, face the winter and get awesome photos!

The stars must have been aligned for Bailey and Alex that day. Not only it was Superbowl Sunday, but the weather was beautiful -45 degrees and sunny – in the middle of winter! To make things better these guys had  great sense of humor that made for a fun shoot. We started the engagement session at Jane’s Carousel and then walked around chasing the light and finding cool, industrial looking streets and buildings.

Bailey & Alex’s wedding will be at The Barn At Gibbet Hill, a beautiful 100 year old barn in Groton, Massachusetts this September. Guys if your wedding is anything like your engagement session, then we are in for a fun and amazing wedding day!
